In 1942 the future site of the base was built, then popularly called Tye Army Air Field. It opened in December of that year, becoming known as Abilene Army Air base. In 1952, Congress approved $32 million to construct a base on the former Tye Army Airfield site. 31, 1946, the base site was sold to the city of Abilene for $1. That was changed in April 1943 to Abilene Army Airfield. After World War II the base, used as a flight training center, was closed. It was used as a training facility for the Texas Army National Guard for several years. As the Korean War escalated, the city of Abilene called for a new military installation. William Edwin Dyess, an Albany native who was captured by the Japanese in April 1942. After visiting the Pentagon and raising almost $1 million to purchase additional acreage, local leaders attracted the attention of then-Sen. He escaped a year later. Looking for any information anyone can give on either the C-5, KC-10 or KC-135 plane in the Air Force?

The husband is to finish flight school and was soon reduced to these 3 shots. Any information you could give us would be great on them. He asked around about them tons, but it is still confused about what to put first on his list.
Can I find the flight plans for the kc-135 stratotankers at rickenbacker ohio?

I live in Fairfield County, Ohio and sometimes I see the KC-135 Stratotanker and when I run outside, they went there if I did the flight plans that I can be ready, rickenbacker is not because an air base I thought might be able to find.
I hope that nobody can find the flight schedules for military flights. Wright Patt in particular.

A next-generation US Air Force tanker. Which off-the-shelf aircraft would you select?

The KC-135 entered the Air Force inventory in the 1950's. The KC-10, an adaptation of the McDonnell Douglas DC-10 airliner, joined the inventory in the late 1970's.
Both are aging. What should be the replacement airframe?
I concur about the KC-135 being overdue for retirement--same age and fatigue issues as the B-52. The McDonnellDouglas KC-10 is still in low-rate production after a fashion as the Boeing KC-10 Charlie, to expand Air Mobility Command's tanker squadrons.
