Lawmaker Wants 'Career-Interest' Tests Given to High School, College Students

The bill describes the type of tests to be administered – the Kuder (rhymes with “cutter”) assessment, the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator personality inventory, the ASVAB of “other interest of career exploration inventory. At the college level, Coley says the test would help students make better decisions that might keep them from spending whole semesters “tasting” subjects. Removing those side trips would save time for students, save money for the state, and – Coley says – maybe cut the amount of money borrowed for student loans. Is retaking the asvab test to get a higher score worth getting discharged?

I have not received my job title or when I'm going to boot camp and i want to retake my asvab test. My recruiter said I will have to be discharged and it will take months. What exactly is going to happen and how long?

If you haven't signed your contract yet then you can retake the ASVAB whenever you want. Ask the recruiter and push them a bit if they give you reasons not to. They probably don't want to go through this process again with you so they'll try and keep

30 Percent Of Ark. Grads Taking ASVAB Test Failed

The ASVAB test is used by all military branches to determine if applicants have basic skills to qualify for enlistment. Greg Pelts, the Guard's commander for recruiting and retention, said the recent failure rate on the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery, or ASVAB, is consistent with the rate in 2010. 6 of applicants fail the test. -- Arkansas National Guard officials said 30 percent of state high school graduates who took the entrance exam for the Guard during the past three months failed because of poor reading, writing and math skills. Arkansas has the nation's eighth-worst ASVAB scores.
