Marines have always been called soldiers, Soldiers of the sea and stuff like that. The dictionary says the word means Navy soldiers affiliated with the Navy. These are tips on Marines Marines, not soldiers is something quite new.

The role of the Navy has changed over time. Initially, they were strictly on ships. During World War II, they were cut mainly on ships, but got to take charge of the Pacific Islands.
