Some guy told me that you just sign up and eventually they are sent to you to get your wings. Is this true or do you have an MOS which requires you to get the wings?

Depends on what the Marine Corps unit you are assigned. If you find yourself in a society Recon, it is likely that you will have the chance to go to jump school. Anglico is another unit that has access to skip school billets.

US Marine Corps Eagle and Anchor Insignia?

I was going through my Fathers Military Papers after he passed away a few months ago.

I noticed on his discharge papers. There is the Eagle and the Anchor Insignia. Above this is written: 'Semper Fidelis'.

Below is written:

Semper Fidelis (Semper Fi) means "Always Faithful"

Fideli Certa Merces means "To The Faithful There Is Just Reward"

And it is called the Eagle Globe and Anchor. Marines can go anywhere...Air, Land and
