I intend to run the Marine Corps Marathon this year and see what it prohibits iPods. Nobody knows how they strictly enforce this rule? I can not imagine working without it! Thank you.
This is not an unusual rule, they do not want the responsibility if you do not hear another rider and trip over them, or they trip on you or something like that. You could get away with it, but why risk a disqualification after all that training.

How congested does Washington D.C. become during the Marine Corps Marathon?
May 19, 8252 by Nikki | Posted in Washington, D.C.
I inadvertently scheduled a trip to DC the weekend marathon, but it is too late for our trip. I'm looking for some idea of how this event could change my expectations vacation?!?
It shouldn't have any impact at all, provided that you stay away from the specific roads and streets during the hours that the marathon is being run. DC is used to handling this sort of event, and it's not a big thing.

Are you allowed run with an Ipod for the DC Marine Corps Marathon?

It says no walkmans but holy god!!!!!!! Do i have to listen to myself for all those hours?
I think iPod is fairly analogous with walkman, don't you think. Anyway, even if it were technically allowed, I think it would be seen as fairly anti-social. Get a running partner who's got the same pace instead.

Sunday, October 31, 2010 more security measures are added along the Arlington Route where the Marine Corps Marathon will take place. The Marine Corp is wanting this race to be as safe as all the previous races have been. The US Marine Corps are working in conjunction with the local authorities and the FBI to create a strong security for the participates of the race. The reason for the added security is due to the recent news of the National Museum of the Marine Corps being fired upon for the second time this month. The race starting line is held just South of Arlington Memorial Drive on Route 110.
