In a seven-month deployment, the 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment had 25 Marines killed and more than 200 wounded. PhilippMcCulloch Jr. , 23, who was raised in Galveston, Texas, pwas a squad leader with the 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment from Camp Pendleton on Jan. McCulloch quickly took a leadership role, organizing Marines into a counter-attack and directing air support and indirect fire, officials said. "Only after six hours of fighting, with his squad dangerously low on ammunition and himself wounded in the leg, did he return to friendly lines," according to the Silver Star citation signed by Commandant Gen.Source: Los Angeles Times

You always hear about how hard boot camp in Parris Island Marine is, but you rarely (if ever) heard of Marine boot camp in San Diego. Does this mean that training camp in San Diego is easier?
I spent 3 years in San Diego Recruit Training MCRD stinking. If anyone ever tells you IP is more difficult to get them to climb the hills around Pendleton with us for some time. It's an old myth without truth behind it.

When someone talks about going to a San Diego boot camp , you may think that they mean the boot camp that recruits have to endure when they join either the Navy or the Marines. There are many programs throughout the San Diego area that involve fitness, including adventure and outdoor camps. You might also think that they are talking about a prison boot camp that juvenile offenders have to attend or one that children with behavioral issues have to go to. These are several examples but there are also boot camps that involve fitness and... Several companies offer boot camp programs style conditioning classes that include muscle strengthening, cardiovascular, core exercises and agility drills.
