The elite school trains EOD techs for the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines and is among the toughest schools in the military. The school will add the names of at least 17 of its graduates to its memorial wall when it holds its annual ceremony this May, said Ed Barker, a spokesman for the Naval Education and Training Command that over sees the EOD school at Eglin Air... Throughout history many EOD techs from the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, other U. S. government and civilian agencies, as well as foreign partners have lost their lives or been wounded in the line of duty. The motto itself holds potential insensitivities and implies that our fallen and wounded EOD Warriors have somehow failed,&rdquo. Officials said the admiral is especially concerned about the hundreds of family members who visit the school each spring for a memorial to military bomb technicians who have died in the line of duty the previous year. Tillotson, who is based in Norfolk, Va. , said in a memo to the Florida school.

does the Marine Corps offer the EOD mos?

yes, but not as an MOS for initial entry. you have to lat-move into it when you reenlist. the army and navy have opened it up for folks just joining up though.

I've looked almost everywhere on the Internet, it just keeps saying they go to EOD school, How long is EOD school? do they go to anymore training before they are in the fleet as an EOD?

What does EOD do Stateside?

Don't talk to a recruiter, the EOD school is only for guys who have been in for a few years so a recruiter won't know much about it.

I am considering joining the military and I am interested in EOD. I have been talking to the Navy about joining their EOD program but I would honestly rather be a Marine. But I have heard you have to be a E-4 in the Marines before I can do EOD. Is there

Yes E- 4 and E-5.. This MOS is filled from a pool of highly qualified individuals (See Below). Take the ASVAB and you will know what you are qualified for. Additionally, understand that each service has only so many EOD slots. Check with the Army as well

Future of EOD techs after Afghan war unknown - Marine Corps News ...

There are nearly 750 active-duty EOD Marines, up considerably from 120 at the start of the Iraq war in 2003. That growth has been fueled by sizeable re-enlistment bonuses aimed at encouraging seasoned EOD techs to stay and enticing other Marines to move into the military occupational specialty. There, EOD techs would maintain their skills and stand ready to augment active forces should the need arise. Jim Amos wants to determine what the Corps’ future EOD requirements will be, he said during a recent media roundtable in San Diego. “We will need EOD personnel, but how many. — With roadside bombs still a top threat to Marines downrange, explosive ordnance disposal techs are in heavy demand, and they continue to experience one of the Corps’ highest operational tempos, spending less time at home between deployments... One option being considered, he said, would shift some of that capability to the Reserve. ” Amos said....
