This was the initial scene during a proficiency screening of Marines with 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, at the aquatics center on Camp Schwab Feb. The screening process is designed to determine if the reconnaissance Marines are prepared for the U. S. Marine Corps Combat Diving School in Panama City, Fla. Bobbing is when Marines take a large breath at the surface of the water. “Our job here is to take six Marines out of the 16 and send them on to the school,” said Master Sgt. After leaping into the depths of the pool, the Marines performed the action they call bobbing. The students lined up shoulder-to-shoulder at the edge with their ankles bound and hands clenched tightly together. This is completed with hands and feet bound by rope. From there, they push forward in an upward direction toward the surface.Source: Marines.mil (press release)

My friend, a Marine, said that Force Recon is above Recon. I know that Force Recon is now part of Marsoc.
but what is the difference between them?
The main difference is that their mission capability. Recon is sent purely for reconnaissance missions. They are trained to go behind enemy lines and gather intel on the positions, the size of troops, weapons, etc. without being seen / caught by the enemy.

I am unable to find consistent answers on the formation of the Force Recon Marines. If I understand they go to basic training and infantry school and then Recon INDOC program. Is this true and what happens after?
Recon Force Recon before dude. You must be a Recon Marine during the first few years before even watching the Force Recon.
Read on the Web site that is linked on my profile page. The Recon / Sniper page will answer your questions.
