The North has said the artillery attack on Yeonpyeong was in retaliation for a South Korean live-fire exercise which dropped shells into waters claimed by Pyongyang. How do Anti-Aircraft guns on naval ships distinguish which is an enemy aircraft or an ally aircraft?
Just like the title says. Idk if these anti aircraft guns are manned are not but im sure there are automatic ones. So how do they distinguish?
There are no true AA guns in use any more...almost everyone uses AAMs (missiles). What guns remain on ships are either intended for ground support or CIWS (to shoot down incoming missiles in the case of the Phalanx).
