James “Jim” Shelton

Jim was command master chief at the Naval Ophthalmic Support and Training Activity (NOSTRA), Naval Weapons Station, Yorktown, Va. Jim married Keren Humphrey in 1985 in Williamsburg, Va. They lived in Macomb from 1988-2002 while Keren taught in at... His service included U. S. S. Wandank, the U. S. S. Wahkiakum County, and the U. S. S. Simon Lake as well as Navy hospitals at Quantico, Guam, Portsmouth, Norfolk, and Hawaii. Jim enlisted in the Navy in 1953 and served proudly as a hospital corpsman for 27 years. Jim will be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father, and a steadfast friend. James “Jim” Shelton, HMCM, USN, Ret. He and Keren loved traveling together, especially touring Great Britain, hiking and fishing in the American west, and joining family and friends on the Outer Banks and the Florida Keys. Jim was an accomplished woodworker, hunter, and fisherman. Wherever he lived, he became the neighborhood go-to guy for instructions in how to build or fix anything, and was always willing to lend a hand.
