Mardi Gras rolls again in Park Vista

Leading the way was the Opelousas High School Navy ROTC honor guard and the vehicle occupied by the parade marshal, Charles Chenier, Opelousas' own veteran of the famed World War II unit known as the Tuskegee Airmen. "I've been back in Opelousas 10 years and I've been watching the parade as a spectator. He said being asked to serve as the parade's grand marshal was a treat for him. Marching bands, flatbed trailers, floats and vehicles carrying local dignitaries lined up at 1 p. m. Friday for the 21st annual Park Vista Mardi Gras Parade. "I'm very honored," Chenier said. As they were lining up, so were the spectators, who stood along the route that circled around the streets of the neighborhood surrounding the school.

What are some of the eligibility requirements for naval rotc acceptance?

I know that the officers must have a combined SAT score of 1000 and a first round, but what if you want to go to the Naval ROTC in high school (especially the marine business)? I talked to recruiters, but have only received vague answers.

What is the best college for Naval ROTC?

Any experience with the Naval ROTC college programs or info would be great.

Check out some schools on the California coast. As UCSB, Santa Cruz, San Diego St. Berkerly, etc. Long Beach St. used to have Navy ROTC.

I'm in my senior year of high school and want to join the military. Just yesterday i was told about the ROTC program. It sounds great, however i'm not sure what i need in order to be accepted for the ROTC.

ROTC, we are warned, violates academic freedom by forcing students into certain careers with certain employers and restricting their majors. This is news to midshipmen at Naval ROTC Berkeley, who are required to study ship systems and engineering, courses far more challenging than, say, PWR. Despite the repeal of “don’t ask, don’t tell” (DADT), support for Stanford’s ban on ROTC persists in predictable quarters on campus. It never seems to occur to ROTC critics that students might sincerely desire to be military officers. The claim that ROTC instructors aren’t qualified is equally ludicrous. accomplished military officers teaching courses about the military is little different than successful executives and practicing lawyers lecturing at GSB and the law school. Military science courses, we are told, lack academic rigor....
