Library Sponsors Trip to Flower and Garden Show

This week’s column was submitted by Christine Posinger, adult services librarian at the Des Plaines Public Library . The Des Plaines Public Library is sponsoring a trip to the Chicago Flower & Garden Show at Navy Pier on Saturday, March 10. The mix of restaurants at Navy Pier offers something for everyone. Tens of thousands of garden enthusiasts attend the show to get inspiration for their own home gardens. The coach will leave Library Plaza promptly at 9:30 a. m. and will return at approximately 3:30 p. m. Lunch is on your own. The arrival of the Chicago Flower & Garden Show every March signals that spring is just around the corner. More than 25 display gardens will showcase the use of vibrant color and rich textures. and will reflect the influence of fashion on garden design.

I wanted to know if there is an easy way to use the subway to get to Navy Pier? I use the train to Chicago and I will arrive at the Ogilvie train station and wanted to know if anyone knows of an easy way to get to Navy Pier?

What's the quickest way to get to Navy Pier on the CTA blue line?

I'll take the Blue Line O'Hare and I would like to know which station is best to get to. I want to walk to Navy Pier there rather than taxi or bus.

Take the Blue Line to the transfer station downtown.

Take bus # 66 takes you right at Navy Pier.

We are staying by Ohare and are going to take the Blue line in to downtown. We are wanting to do a little walking around sight seeing and then end up at the Navy Pier for the evening. No more than 1-2 miles of walking though as it will be real hot

Do not get off the Blue Line at Grand unless you just want to transfer to a bus and go directly to Navy Pier. The Blue Line stop is not within reasonable walking distance and all you'd see is a run down but gentrifying neighborhood.
