There were only two other Navy SEAL teams, but the US wanted to keep spies in the dark about how many teams were operating. The US Navy's SEAL Team 6, the elite force that carried out yesterday's raid to free two hostages in Somalia, has become front page news once again. According to Business Insider , SEAL Team 6 operates outside military protocol. SEAL Team 6 was created in response to the 1979-1981 Iran hostage crisis. The mission was a failure, so Carter asked the armed forces to create a counter-terrorism team that would operate outside military law, the IBTimes reported. Here's five things you should know about SEAL Team 6:. IBT Times reported that according to Dr. Howard E. Wasdin, a former sniper for Team 6, "On every op we go on, determining who dies and who doesn't is something called justifiable use of deadly force," he said. The "all black" Tier-One counter-terrorism force is the same unit that carried out the raid on Osama bin Laden's compound in Abottabad, Pakistan. In 1980, President Jimmy Carter ordered a rescue mission by the Army's Delta force.Source: GlobalPost

I want to join the Navy and it is the senior jobs I am interested in.
So I was wondering if I'm qualified for them.
The Navy uses different areas ASVAB subtest scores to determine whether or not a person qualifies for a job (note).

If yes, did you choose to be with joints as an EOD without any additional training type SEAL? Are you able to stay with the SEALs perminentley or do you cycle between the various groups like the Army or Marines SOF.
There is no single SEAL team in Iraq or Afghanistan who do not have an EOD platoon attached to them. You can sometimes choose to work with seals, or get selected among the blue of your unit.

Is it possible to enter the Navy with an EOD NEC and still get a shot at the SEALs in your contract, or is it either / or? Both paths are very interesting to me, but I know the SEALs wash-out rate is very high and if for some reason I didn't make it I
Yes, you can either sign the SEAL challenge contract and get a guaranteed slot at BUD/s OR try and get a shot at EOD, but not both.
It's almost always easier to go ND, EOD or SWCC if you get injured during SEAL training than the other way

All they were talking about making E3 quickly, getting married for more money, applying for officer programs to make more money…etc This downed my spirit but I still decided to look forward because I just thought they were young and stupid. When I joined in 2005 I joined to serve my country. E5 and above were the ones who were motivated and actually loved the NAVY. When arrived at great lakes I was surprised because there were only 10 people like me who joined to serve their country. Sailors were getting married, going UA, begging for early promotions, wanting to switch rates so they would be on a s hip…etc. I didnt car e about the money, BAH, GI Bill…....
This was a cool detachment that we were able to go on. It allowed diverse training allowing EOD and Seals to jump out of a C-2 COD aircraft.
