The same elite Navy SEAL unit that killed Osama bin Laden took part in a daring nighttime rescue in Somalia of a woman with ties to the Tri-State and a Danish foreign aid worker, officials said Wednesday. The SEALs entered Somalia on Tuesday in the same fashion they arrived at bin Laden's Pakistan compound in May 2011, in helicopters, descending on the compound where the hostages were held, a U. S. official with knowledge of the rescue said. The personnel attached to Naval Special Warfare Development Group, also known as DEVGRU, were part of the joint Special Operations force that rescued the hostages, CNN has confirmed. DEVGRU, formally known as SEAL Team Six, is one of several units that make up the storied fighting force. The hostages, Jessica Buchanan and Poul Thisted, were abducted in October after they visited humanitarian projects in the northern part of Somalia, according to a Danish Refugee Council who employed them. Both are unharmed and at a safe location, the aid group said.Source: kypost.com

I work with someone who claims both of the above.
No seal was a prisoner of war in Vietnam. The SEAL community is very proud of that.
If the person claims to have been a prisoner of war as a seal .. he is lying.

There are different types of information you can get. If you want a copy of your uncle's military records, you can file to get that (link 1 below). The more information you have, the better. As far as other information, the genealogical websites are best

The problem with the Vietnam war is that most of the soldiers, and many Marines were fighting for something they didn’t believe. You are a 17 year old kid maybe you should do some homework, Yes there were those that were drafted into the corp, I was a navy corpsman stationed with them,,, 1st MAW/171st mwss det”A” Fatima… show some respect KID. If everyone would have played like the seals, the war would have been a success. They knew how to play the game, and they played it better than their enemy. However the Seals didn’t have that mentality, they were there to do the job. But we know not everyone can be a Seal....
