PERRIS: San Diego man killed in skydiving accident

A San Diego man who had jumped more than 8,000 times and who trained Navy SEALs to skydive died Saturday morning when he slammed into the swooping pond at Perris Valley Skydiving. Brodsky-Chenfeld said Carey was an instructor at Skydive San Diego and had won swooping competitions in Perris. Sean Carey, 35, was competing with 15 others in a swooping event about 9 a. m. when he failed to pull up in time, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department and Dan Brodsky-Chenfeld, manager of the skydiving facility. Brodsky-Chenfeld briefly banned swooping at Perris in December 2011 after Canadian Michael Ungar, 32, died attempting what skydivers consider a risky maneuver tried only by the most experienced jumpers. Carey was taken to Riverside County Regional Medical Center in Moreno Valley, where he died, the Sheriff’s Department said.

How did you first become involved with lacrosse, and who got you into it. The first lacrosse game I saw was at Torrey Pines when I went to watch Cito and Kenny Williams play in high school. Winning the Starz Cup at Del Norte High School was a great experience for our team. You recently won an elite So Cal Cup with the Del Mar Bears, tell us a bit about that experience….   We were missing a few kids and had to bring some players up from the other Bears Elite team. I first did an instructional camp and then started with CYL in 5th grade.   Also, the leadership of our veteran players played a key role in the outcome. I instantly fell in love with lacrosse and begged my Mom to sign me up for CYL....
